Twenty years after the "Turn" in Eastern Germany the children of those days are grown up: an opportunity to look back. A similar, not less radical change to the people in Eastern Europe meant the new independence of their native countries. The inter-generational perspective may therefore be widened by the inclusion of " Independence Families" in the Ukraine.
The exhibition is based on interviews with “Turn”-children and parents from both countries. Some questions were raised in Germany and the Ukraine in the same, some in a different way. That is why the exhibition offers visitors material for an exciting juxtaposition. When asked about the changes that have taken place by the “Turn” both in Germany and the Ukraine the interview partners refer to the lost job security. There are also consistent critical remarks on the reduced social cohesion of the societies. Differently, on the other hand, democracy is rated. Interesting differences and similarities can be found between the generations: parents evaluate today's society more critical then their children because of their ability to compare it with an alternative system.

The exhibition was organized by four students, together with the Theodor-Heuss-Kolleg of the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Association MitOst.
